David McMahon
David is a dedicated community organizer, a devoted father, and a skilled craftsman with over 30 years of experience building scenery for theater, film, and television. He's also a proud union member with the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees Local 52 and a delegate to the Montgomery County Central Labor Council.
As a single parent, David raised his son Jack with the help of his large and supportive family. Jack is now a valued member of our campaign team, and David is proud to have instilled in him a deep commitment to social justice and community service.
In addition to his work with the Democratic Party in Norristown, David is a passionate advocate for universal healthcare and a tireless activist in the fight against climate change. He is also a dedicated worker organizer, standing with those currently represented by unions and fighting to create new unions in workplaces across the region.
David has been a strong supporter of workers demanding dignity, safety, and respect in the workplace. He has fought for Fair Work Week legislation in Philadelphia and a Domestic Workers Bill of Rights. He has rallied with sanitation workers demanding personal protective equipment during the COVID pandemic, and supported teachers in their fight for safe learning conditions for their students and fair working conditions for themselves. He has stood with nurses demanding safe staffing levels, patient safeguards, and recognition for the vital role they play in our communities. He has even supplied groceries and firewood to striking UAW workers on their 24/7 picket lines.
David understands that there are many challenges facing our community here in Norristown. As a Council member, he will continue to work tirelessly to advocate for policies that prioritize the needs of our residents and create a more just and equitable society for all.
